Lina María García Niño

Lina María García Niño is a sustainability specialist who graduated in November 2016 from the Faculty of Architecture at La Salle University in Bogotá, Colombia. She holds an M.Arch from The Faculty of Architecture of Los Andes University of Colombia and an MSc in Sustainable Architecture from the Faculty of Architecture of the Polytechnic University of Turin.

After obtaining the bachelor’s degree in architecture she has been working for more than 3 years as a sustainable consultant in Colombia, improving her knowledge and skills on energy efficiency, thermal comfort, LCA analysis, housing indoor quality assessment, and sustainable building strategies in tropical climates. In addition, she was involved in some national pilot programs such as the Building Efficiency Accelerator (BEA) and CEELA Project in Colombia.

During her studies, she took part in different extra-curricular activities. She joined the Solar Decathlon Latin America and Caribbean 2015, winning third place in the sustainability category. She also attended several courses and workshops focused on the sustainable refurbishment of buildings and the sustainable development of spaces with environmental and social vulnerability. Besides, she worked on some academic research with a track on housing quality and sustainability, indoor thermal comfort in affordable housing, and PCM materials’ thermal and energetic performance.

From 2019 she has been working as an independent sustainable consultant until she joined the GET team in October 2023.

She believes in the benefits of interdisciplinary teamwork and academic research for the achievement of equitable and sustainable development.
