Access4you: certifying accessibility of the built environment

Access4you is an internationally acclaimed social impact company that offers the Access4you certification. This solution assesses, qualifies, and certifies the accessibility of built environments and urban spaces through detailed and verifiable data, considering the specific needs of 8+1 user groups of people with disabilities.

Addressing all pillars of ESG reporting, including the “Social” aspect, which can always be more difficult to assess, is increasingly important in the ongoing evolution of European regulations and directives. The Access4you Certification can provide effective guidelines to implement inclusive best practices. Furthermore, including social sustainability in business processes can give companies a strategic advantage in the real estate market, contributing to these positive outcomes:

  • Increasing property value;
  • Expanding market reach;
  • Elevating brand and employer reputation;
  • Aligning with EEA (European Accessibility Act).

GET is an Access4you Accredited Partner and counts among its team Access4you Accredited Professionals. Thanks to this, the company is committed to transforming the built environment to be more accessible and inclusive.

Access4you Certification System

The Access4you process balances technical, communication, and sustainability factors by providing a system applicable to different asset classes: office building, logistical building, hotel and accommodation, spaces dedicated to wellness, restaurants and cafes, shopping centers, retail chains, customer services, healthcare institutions, medical centers, event and cultural venues, sports and event venues, outdoor facilities, workplaces, educational institutions, and homes.

The certification process involves several steps:

  1. On-site assessment;
  2. Data collection and analysis;
  3. Certification;
  4. Audit report with detailed development proposal to become more accessible.

The evaluation system foresees 8+1 stakeholders’ categories: wheelchair users, people with baby strollers, the elderly and people with reduced mobility, the blind, the visually impaired, the hard of hearing, the deaf, and people with cognitive dysfunctions. It offers 4 levels of compliance:

  • Certified: minimum requirements achievement of at least 1 stakeholder group with accessibility needs.
  • Bronze: “Wheelchair users” minimum requirement compliance, adding stakeholder group at least one vision, one hearing, and one of any other group.
  • Silver: to add two groups to those required for the previous level.
  • Gold: to meet the minimum requirements of all accessibility stakeholder groups.

To date, the certification counts more than 1000 buildings certified in 33 countries. Furthermore, the protocol is an integrated part of the WELL Building Standard. Achieving Bronze level (or superior) in Access4you also allows operators pursuing WELL certification on the same property to obtain the C13 feature on “Accessibility and Universal Design”.

Access4you: GET commitment

GET has become an Access4you Accredited Partner because it wants to promote clear and verifiable standards that optimize inclusive strategies within built environments and urban spaces. Paula Marramá, Access4you Partnership Manager, regarding the collaboration and approaching the Italian market, stated: “We entered the Italian market a year ago and were looking for partners. We are pleased to see the significant interest in our social-focused solution. GET Consulting is one of our key Italian partners. As Italy’s real estate landscape evolves, accessibility is emerging as a key indicator of excellence. Accessibility is not just a social responsibility—it’s a strategic ESG investment. Through our partnership with GET Consulting, Access4you brings measurable, people-focused impact to the built environment, and we bring ESG principles to life, ensuring that buildings are designed with inclusion, sustainability, and long-term value in mind. Together, we support developers in delivering certified, inclusive spaces that respond to the diverse needs of today’s society“.

This type of certification is becoming increasingly relevant for real estate operators, as it directly addresses a specific market demand. Offers a clear approach based on a detailed mapping of the needs of different stakeholders, enabling targeted actions throughout every phase of the project.

Adopting this protocol provides a strategic advantage, especially for certain asset categories such as hotel accommodation, shopping centers, healthcare institutions, and university residences. To best navigate the Access4you Certification, it is important to rely on specialized professionals. GET with this new partnership is ready to support customers in achieving their social sustainability goals.
