Maria Ferrara, PhD, MSc. Arch., is currently post-doc research fellow at the Energy Department at the Turin Polytechnic and lecturer in various Master’s degree courses at the same university.

After graduation with honors in Architecture from the High Polytechnic School of Politecnico di Torino and Politecnico di Milano, she obtained her PhD in Energetics with honors from Politecnico di Torino thanks to her research activities on simulation and optimization of high energy performance buildings and systems, conducted in collaboration with Princeton University (USA).

She has been appointed as Siebel Scholar, class of 2017, for academic excellence and demonstrated leadership in the field of Energy Science to top PhDs from the world’s leading graduate schools.

She is also coordinator of a multidisciplinary project on smart communities and social innovation, funded by Italian government.

She is a member of the IBPSA (International Building Performance Simulation Association) and since 2016 she carries out training and professional consultancy activities regarding dynamic energy simulation for the optimization of NZEB building projects and for LEED certification. She is Author of over 40 publications in top international journals and conference proceedings.

Thanks to her advanced experience in both research and professional fields, she knows how to take the best from dynamic energy simulation of buildings for supporting design teams towards effective regeneration of the built environment sustainable practice.
